The Cabinet Division has formed six specialized committees to manage and execute the oath-taking ceremony for Bangladesh’s incoming president, according to an official order issued Sunday.
The initiative follows the Bangladesh Election Commission’s announcement of the presidential election schedule, with voting slated for August 20. The swearing-in ceremony will take place on a date and time approved by the Prime Minister following the election results.
The six committees and their designated leaders include, Coordination Committee: Led by Farah Shammi, Secretary (Coordination and Reform), overseeing the entire operational process across all teams. Documentation and Record Keeping / Guest List & Printing Committee: Led by Md. Shamim Sohel, Additional Secretary (Administration and Rules Wing), tasked with finalizing guest lists, printing invitations, and maintaining official records.
Invitation Distribution and Verification Committee: Led by Mohammad Khaled Hasan, Additional Secretary (Coordination Wing), handling delivery and receipt confirmations. Seating Management Committee: Led by Md. Humayun Kabir, Additional Secretary (Committee and Economic Wing), managing venue layout and protocol seating. Reception Committee: Led by Yasmin Begum, Additional Secretary (Law Wing), responsible for guest reception and protocol.
Under the order, committee conveners are authorized to co-opt additional personnel as needed. Conveners have been instructed to call immediate planning meetings and provide regular progress updates to the Cabinet Division’s Secretary of Coordination and Reform.
