Panchagarh, Bangladesh – The Banglabandha Land Port in Panchagarh has seen a significant surge in potato exports to Nepal, with 1,407 metric tons of potatoes shipped through the port yesterday (Thursday).
The massive quantity of potatoes was exported between morning and afternoon. According to Nur Hasan, Additional Deputy Director of the Plant Quarantine Station at Banglabandha Land Port, the shipment included various potato varieties, including Asterix.
“This is the highest volume in a single day, with the potatoes being exported in 67 trucks,” stated Mr. Hasan. “The potatoes were sourced and selected from various districts across North Bengal and exported to Nepal by different exporting firms.”

This record export follows a substantial shipment on Wednesday, where 588 metric tons of potatoes were exported in 28 trucks.
Cumulatively, the Banglabandha Land Port has facilitated the export of a total of 39,039 metric tons of potatoes over the ten months from January to the present, marking a consistent flow of the crop to Nepal.
