Bangladesh’s stock market closed higher on Saturday, the final trading session before the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha holidays, with most listed companies posting gains and all major indices ending in positive territory.
Trading took place in accordance with a government order allowing special market operations ahead of the holiday break.
Market analysis showed that a majority of shares and mutual fund units gained from the opening bell at 10:00 am, and the upward trend continued throughout the session.
At the end of the day, out of 394 issues traded on the Dhaka Stock Exchange, prices of 217 companies rose, while 117 declined and 60 remained unchanged.
The benchmark DSEX index climbed 64 points to close at 5,328 points. The Shariah-based DSES index gained 8 points to reach 1,077, while the DS-30 index, which tracks blue-chip stocks, advanced 35 points to settle at 2,030 points.
Trading turnover at the Dhaka bourse also increased significantly. Total transactions reached Tk 902.16 crore, up from Tk 867.48 crore in the previous trading session, marking an increase of Tk 34.68 crore.
Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange also ended the day in positive territory. The CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) rose 161 points to close at 14,861 points.
A total of 194 companies were traded on the Chittagong exchange, of which 102 advanced, 67 declined, and 25 remained unchanged.
However, turnover at the Chittagong market declined compared to the previous session. Total transactions stood at Tk 24.39 crore, down from Tk 30.39 crore in the last trading day.
