In a major boost to the country’s manufacturing sector, the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) has signed a lease agreement with South Korean company Park Handbag BD Limited. The firm plans to invest $80 million (approx. Tk 940 crore) to establish a high-end bag, luggage, and garment manufacturing plant in the BEPZA Economic Zone at Mirsarai, Chattogram.
The agreement was signed on Monday at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka. Md. Tanveer Hossain, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, and Mr. Bomjun Park, Chairman of Park Handbag BD Limited, finalized the deal in the presence of BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman.
Project Scope and Employment
Park Handbag BD Limited will set up its factory on a massive 57,600 square meter plot. Once fully operational, the project is expected to create employment opportunities for 10,960 Bangladeshi nationals.
The facility will produce a diverse range of products, including:

Accessories: Handbags, backpacks, and luggage.

Apparel: Polo shirts, T-shirts, padded and down jackets, trousers, sportswear, and undergarments.
Global Exports and Brand Partnerships
During the ceremony, Chairman Bomjun Park revealed that the factory would manufacture products for world-renowned brands such as Coach and Kate Spade. The finished goods will be exported to major global markets, including:

Welcoming the South Korean investor, the BEPZA Executive Chairman reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to providing 24/7 uninterrupted service and support. He highlighted BEPZA’s ongoing efforts toward automation and digital service expansion to maintain a competitive investment climate.
“We must constantly improve to maintain our investment-friendly position,” said Major General Ziaur Rahman, while urging Mr. Park to encourage more South Korean entrepreneurs to explore opportunities within Bangladesh’s EPZs.
The South Korean representative praised BEPZA’s “fast, simple, and investor-friendly” services, noting that Bangladesh remains a high-potential destination for global manufacturing.
