The price of gold in the domestic market has seen yet another increase, with the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) raising the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,613 per bhori (11.664 grams). The new price for one bhori of 22-carat gold is set at Tk 216,332.
This increase, which sets a new record high for the precious metal in the country, will be effective from Wednesday, October 15. BAJUS announced the new rates late on Tuesday, October 14, via a press release.
The association stated in its notification that the decision to set new prices was made due to a rise in the price of Tejabi Shona (pure gold) in the local market, after a review of the overall situation.
New Gold and Silver Prices
Under the revised pricing structure, the rates for different purities of gold per bhori (11.664 grams) are as follows:

BAJUS also reiterated that a 5% government-mandated VAT and a minimum 6% BAJUS-determined labor charge must be added to the gold’s selling price. However, the labor charge may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewelry.
This marks the second gold price hike in quick succession. The previous price adjustment was made on October 13, when BAJUS raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 4,618 per bhori, setting the price at Tk 213,719, which had been the highest price until now.
