There is no security concern surrounding International Mother Language Day and Shaheed Day observances, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali.
He made the statement at a press conference held Friday morning at the Central Shaheed Minar.
The DMP Commissioner said multi-layered security measures have been put in place to ensure safe observance of wreath-laying and tribute ceremonies. Around 15,000 police personnel will be deployed to maintain overall security.
Designated Routes for Visitors
He urged members of the public to follow designated routes while coming to pay their respects. Visitors have been requested to enter the Shaheed Minar area via the Palashi intersection and Jagannath Hall crossing routes. Authorities have also asked everyone to use the specified entry and exit points to maintain discipline and order.
Restricted Access to Dhaka University Area
For security reasons, public access to the University of Dhaka area has been restricted from Friday evening onward. Only individuals with valid identification and those officially concerned will be allowed to enter the area after that time.
Police further said the entire area has been brought under CCTV surveillance to ensure enhanced security. Plainclothes intelligence personnel will also remain deployed to monitor and prevent any suspicious activities.
