A total of 176 Bangladeshi nationals have returned home from the Tajura Detention Center in Tripoli, Libya, with the assistance of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
They arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka, on Thursday morning (September 18).
The Bangladesh Embassy in Libya stated that it has been working closely with local authorities and the IOM to ensure the safe repatriation of Bangladeshis detained in various centers across Libya. As part of this ongoing process, 176 Bangladeshis were repatriated from the Tajura Detention Center on September 17 with IOM support. They were expected to land in Dhaka at around 8:00 AM on September 18 via Libya’s Buraq Airlines (Flight No. UZ222).
A delegation from the embassy, led by Ambassador Major General Abul Hasnat Muhammad Khairul Bashar, bid farewell to the returnees at Libya’s Immigration Reception Center. The ambassador urged those considering illegal migration to exercise caution in the future.
He further warned that such illegal activities damage the country’s image and reputation, while also causing financial and physical harm to individuals and hardship for their families and communities.
