The Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM) hosted a seminar today, Sunday, at the institute’s Multipurpose Hall to mark ‘World Investor Week-2025’. The event focused on a key theme of this year’s International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) initiative: Artificial Intelligence.
The seminar featured a keynote paper titled “Financial Statement Analysis and Its Relevance in Machine Learning-Based Stock Price Prediction”, presented by Imran Mahmud, Lecturer at BICM.
This year’s World Investor Week theme by IOSCO is ‘Technology and Digital Finance, Artificial Intelligence, and Fraud and Scam Prevention’. BICM’s seminar specifically centered on the impact of Artificial Intelligence within this broad theme.
The seminar was chaired by the Executive President of BICM, Wajid Hasan Shah. The event’s Chief Guest was Md. Saifur Rahman, CFA, Commissioner of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC).
In his address, the Chief Guest, Md. Saifur Rahman, CFA, emphasized the continuous nature of investor education and awareness. He stated, “Investment education or investor awareness is an ongoing process. Our main target is the general investor. We must reach our general populace, and go to the grassroots investors. If we can make them aware and educated, we will see positive results.”
The seminar also featured in-depth discussions from the distinguished panel of discussants:
- Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Hoque, Professor of the Department of Finance at Chittagong University
- Mr. Hussein Ahmed Enamul Huda, Assistant Professor of the Department of Finance at Dhaka University
The discussants meticulously analyzed various aspects of the keynote presentation. The seminar was moderated by BICM Associate Professor Faisal Ahmed Khan.
The event was conducted in a hybrid mode and saw the attendance of BICM Director (Administration & Finance) Nazmus Salehin, all faculty members, officers, and other invited guests.
