The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) is placing the highest priority on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Combating Financing of Terrorism (CFT) activities to ensure transparency, investor confidence, and sustainable development within the capital market.
In a press release issued on Tuesday (September 30), the DSE confirmed this renewed emphasis, stressing that all capital market intermediary institutions must implement AML and CFT protocols in strict adherence to national and international laws, rules, regulations, and the directives of regulatory bodies.
The announcement came on the concluding day of a two-day training workshop on AML & CFT for capital market intermediaries, held on September 29 and 30.
Key Compliance Requirements Outlined
Addressing the closing ceremony, DSE Director Major General Mohammad Kamruzzaman (Retd.) underscored the essential measures for effective compliance.
He stated that the AML & CFT framework mandates several core activities, including: Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures to verify client identities, Customer Due Diligence (CDD) based on risk assessment, Identification and reporting of suspicious transactions and activities, Regular training programs for all officers and employees., Strict adherence to the directives issued by the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) and other regulatory authorities, Call for Active Intermediary Participation
Major General Kamruzzaman asserted that the DSE is confident that a transparent, accountable, and robust capital market can only be established through the active participation of all capital market intermediaries in these compliance efforts.
Also present at the ceremony were Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Assistant Director of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), and Syed Al Amin Rahman, Deputy General Manager of the DSE.
