The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase on Wednesday approved a procurement proposal worth Tk 141.33 crore for upgrading nine 33/11 kV AIS substations under a power distribution modernization project in the Northern Electricity Supply Company (NESCO) area.
The approval came at a meeting held at the Secretariat, chaired by Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury. The committee also approved another proposal from the Local Government Division.
According to meeting sources, the project titled “Network Infrastructure Development and Power Distribution System Modernization in NESCO Area,” under the Power Division, will implement the works through Package GD-6 (P-06). The scope includes design, supply of equipment, installation, testing, and commissioning of nine 33/11 kV AIS substations in the Rangpur region.
The approved procurement cost has been set at Tk 141,33,13,076. A joint venture of Adex Corporation Limited (ACL) and Adex Engineering Limited (AEL) has been selected to carry out the project, with the Cabinet Committee recommending the proposal for approval.
Meanwhile, the committee also approved a variation proposal under the project “Construction of Important Bridges on Rural Roads (Phase II),” being implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).
The variation relates to Package No. CIB-2-PAN-W-30 in Boda upazila of Panchagarh district. The original contract value of the project was Tk 110 crore, while an additional Tk 6.09 crore (Tk 6,09,30,619) has been approved as variation, representing a 5.54 percent increase.
Following the revision, the total contract value now Tk 116.09 crore (Tk 116,09,30,619). The project will be implemented by National Development Engineers Limited.
