Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon has said that, just as cheating in examinations was curbed in the past, the government now aims to build a country free from drugs, terrorism, and Youth Gangs.
He made the remarks on Friday afternoon while responding to journalists after arriving in Kachua, Chandpur, for the first time since assuming office as Education Minister.
The minister said the movement to eliminate exam cheating once began in Kachua, and similarly, efforts to eradicate drugs and terrorism will also begin from there before being expanded nationwide.
Recalling late leader Khaleda Zia, he said he expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for being re-elected. However, he added that he felt deeply saddened that “Mother of the Nation” Khaleda Zia is no longer among them during this moment of joy. He also stated that the Bangladesh of the future would be built under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Earlier in the day, upon his arrival at the Upazila Parishad premises, he was welcomed with floral greetings by Chandpur Deputy Commissioner Nazmul Islam Sarkar and Superintendent of Police Rabiul Hasan, along with representatives of civil society.
Later, the minister exchanged views with local residents in different areas of Kachua and visited several religious institutions.
