Imtiaz Ahmad Masum has been promoted to the position of Executive Director at Bangladesh Bank, the country’s central bank. The promotion was officially confirmed recently following his distinguished service in various critical roles.
A Career Spanning Over Two Decades
Mr. Masum began his journey with the central bank in 1999 as an Assistant Director. Throughout his career, which spans nearly 26 years, he has held key positions across several vital departments at the headquarters, including:

Vigilance Sub-division

Foreign Exchange Inspection and Vigilance Department

Financial Integrity and Customer Services Department (FICSD)

Accounts and Budgeting Department

Sustainable Finance Department
He also served as the Project Director for the Investment Promotion and Financing Facility-II (IPFF-II) and contributed his expertise to the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU). Most recently, he served as the Director of the Bangladesh Bank Barishal office.
Academic Excellence and Professional Training
An alumnus of the University of Dhaka, Mr. Masum holds both an Honors and a Master’s degree in Accounting. His pursuit of professional excellence took him abroad, where he earned a Professional Master’s in Banking and Finance from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand.
Furthermore, he completed the Certified Expert in Risk Management (CERM) program, a joint initiative by the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, Germany, and the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM).
Global Exposure and Recognition
Mr. Masum has represented Bangladesh Bank in numerous international training programs across the globe, including the Philippines, Singapore, India, Malaysia, England, Thailand, Germany, Switzerland, and Turkey.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, particularly in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) initiatives, he was honored with the Bangladesh Bank AML Risking Award (Best Category) in 2021. In his personal life, he is the father of a daughter.
