NEW YORK: Bangladeshi-born technology professional and engineer Md. Touhidul Alam participated in an event at United Nations Headquarters in New York in connection with the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81).
Invited by the Permanent Mission of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Alam attended the international gathering as a Distinguished Delegate.
On September 25, 2026, he addressed a seminar titled “Knowledge as a Crisis Compass,” where discussions focused on how information, knowledge and collective wisdom can guide effective decision-making and help address complex global challenges.
In his remarks, Alam highlighted the importance of knowledge-driven approaches to understanding and responding to crises. The discussion underscored how access to reliable information, informed analysis and collaborative problem-solving can contribute to more effective responses to challenges facing the international community.
Alam currently works at Comcast Corporation in the United States as a Backend Engineer III, Engineering Operations. Alongside his professional responsibilities in the technology and engineering sector, his participation in the international forum provided an opportunity to contribute to discussions on knowledge-based approaches to global problem-solving.
Expressing his enthusiasm and gratitude for the opportunity, Alam said, “It is a tremendous honor and privilege for me to participate in such an important global forum as the United Nations and to speak on ‘Knowledge as a Crisis Compass.’ I am sincerely grateful to the UAE Permanent Mission and UNDP for this opportunity.”
