Md. Faruk Hossain, a former Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh, has been appointed as the President of the newly approved managing ad-hoc committee of the historic Balakhal J. N. High School in Hajiganj Upazila under Chandpur district.
The Comilla Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education officially approved the committee for a tenure of six months via an official order (Memo No: 2.37.13.0000.212.22.05.26.8183) signed by the Inspector of Schools on June 4, 2026.
According to the official directive, the four-member ad-hoc committee was formed under Section 64(10) of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Comilla (Governing Body and Managing Committee of Non-Government Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2024. While Mr. Faruk Hossain serves as the President, the Headmaster of the institution will act as the Member Secretary by virtue of his position. The other members of the committee include Ranjit Chandra Paul (Teacher Representative, nominated by the District Education Officer) and Md. Mojibur Rahman (Guardian Representative, nominated by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer).
Mr. Faruk Hossain, the newly appointed President, shares a deep personal connection with the institution as an illustrious alumnus. He passed his SSC examinations with distinction from Balakhal JN High School in 1976. He completed his HSC from Chandpur College and subsequently obtained his Master’s degree in Soil Science from the University of Dhaka. His ancestral home is located in Protappur village of Hajiganj Upazila.
Following his academic career, Mr. Hossain joined the Civil Service (BCS Administration) on February 15, 1988. In his long and distinguished career, he served across at least 10 ministries—including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Public Administration, Economic Relations Division (ERD), and Finance Division—as well as various local administration tiers and an international organization. Alongside his professional duties, he pursued advanced studies abroad in Public Procurement and Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). He is widely recognized as a prominent expert in public procurement, PPP, and skill development in Bangladesh. After retiring from government service as a Secretary on February 10, 2020, he has been actively working as a top-tier consultant for various national and international organizations.
Expressing deep emotion upon being appointed the President of his alma mater, Mr. Faruk Hossain stated, “Receiving this responsibility feels like returning home to my beloved school. I hope that through my tenure on the managing committee, I will have a genuine opportunity to work dedicatedly toward overall infrastructural development and restoring an excellent educational environment here.”
