Bangladesh’s stock market extended its upward trend on Wednesday, maintaining a positive momentum following the extended Eid-ul-Azha holidays. After gaining for five consecutive trading sessions before the holidays, the market has now recorded gains in all three trading days since reopening.
On the third trading day after Eid, prices of most listed companies’ shares and mutual fund units increased, pushing all major indices of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) higher. Active participation from investors also drove turnover to its highest level in nearly nine months.
Market analysis shows that trading at the DSE began on a positive note, with most securities witnessing price appreciation at the opening bell. This upward trajectory continued throughout the session, resulting in a broad-based gain by the end of the day.
Out of the total traded securities, 243 companies recorded price increases, while 98 declined and 49 remained unchanged.
The benchmark DSEX index rose by 35 points to close at 5,442 points. The DSE Shariah Index gained 10 points to reach 1,099, while the DS30 index, which represents blue-chip companies, advanced by 7 points to 2,057.
Turnover also saw a significant increase, amounting to Tk 1,279.13 crore, up from Tk 1,080.42 crore in the previous session—an increase of Tk 198.71 crore. This marks the highest turnover since September 8, 2025, when the DSE recorded transactions worth Tk 1,400.84 crore.
Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also experienced a positive session. The overall CASPI index surged by 104 points to 15,186, while the CSCX index climbed 56 points to 9,333.
