NABATIEH, LEBANON — An Israeli drone strike on a residential home in the village of Zebdine, located in the Nabatieh district of southern Lebanon, has claimed the lives of three people, including two Bangladeshi nationals.
According to a report by the Lebanese news outlet L’Orient Today on Monday, May 11, the victims were migrant workers employed in the region. While the specific identities of the Bangladeshis have not yet been officially released by local authorities, the third victim has been identified as a Syrian national.
Continued Violations of the Ceasefire
The attack comes amid a period of extreme volatility in the region. Despite a ceasefire brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump on April 16, Israeli forces have continued to conduct intensive operations in southern Lebanon. While Israel claims its strikes are targeting Hezbollah operatives and military infrastructure, reports from the ground indicate significant damage to civilian homes and infrastructure.
In response to the Zebdine strike and other ongoing bombardments, Hezbollah launched retaliatory drone attacks today targeting Israeli military positions along the border.

Regional Tensions
The Lebanese government has recently called on Washington to pressure Israel to cease its military operations in the south, which have continued to displace thousands of civilians. Since the conflict intensified in early 2026, the death toll in Lebanon has surpassed 2,800, with migrant workers often finding themselves caught in the crossfire while working in vulnerable border areas.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut has previously urged its citizens in Lebanon to remain in safe shelters and exercise extreme caution as the security situation remains unpredictable.
