The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country’s premier shark market, witnessed a significant bullish trend on Wednesday (April 22), the fourth working day of the week. Most shares and units saw price increases, pushing all major indices upward and driving daily turnover past the Tk 1,000 crore milestone for the first time in over two months.
Market Performance Summary
The day began with an upward trajectory at 10:00 AM, as most securities started trading at higher prices. While the initial sharp gains moderated slightly toward the end of the session, the market closed on a positive note.
Out of the 391 issues traded on the DSE:

Index Movement
Driven by the widespread price appreciation, the benchmark index, DSEX, climbed 41 points to settle at 5,299. Other indices followed suit:

DSES (Shariah Index): Rose by 3 points to reach 1,066.

DS30 (Blue-chip Index): Increased by 20 points to close at 2,005.
Significant Jump in Turnover
A highlight of Wednesday’s session was the surge in liquidity. Total turnover reached Tk 1,056.36 crore, a substantial increase from Tuesday’s turnover of Tk 929.29 crore. This marks a daily jump of Tk 127.07 crore.
Notably, this is the highest turnover recorded on the DSE since February 17, when the market saw trades worth Tk 1,222.30 crore.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) Update
The port city’s bourse, the Chittagong Stock Exchange, also ended the day in green. The overall price index, CASPI, rose by 60 points to reach 14,797.
