The Bangladesh capital market witnessed a downturn in both indices and turnover as investors adopted a cautious stance ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. With only two trading sessions held last week, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) saw a decline in most major indices, accompanied by a significant drop in daily average turnover.
DSE Index Performance
Market analysis reveals that the DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, shed 14.46 points (ending at 5,354 points) compared to the previous week’s close of 5,368 points. Other indices showed mixed results:

-
Shariah Index (DSES): Bucked the trend slightly, gaining 1.14 points to finish at 1,080.
Trading was restricted to just Sunday and Monday due to the holiday schedule. While the market started the week on a bearish note Sunday, it recovered some ground on Monday before closing for the break.
