Paramount Textile PLC, a prominent player in Bangladesh’s textile industry listed on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), is taking a significant step toward sustainability. The company has announced plans to install a 9.81 MW rooftop solar power project at its factory premises to ensure sustainable energy and reduce carbon emissions.
According to data released by the DSE on Tuesday (March 17), the solar project will be located at the company’s manufacturing facility in Gilarchala, Sreepur, Gazipur.
Strategic Partnership and “Opex” Model
The project will be implemented under the Opex (Operating Expenditure) model. Paramount Solar Limited, a subsidiary in which Paramount Textile holds a 99.99% stake, will be responsible for the design, construction, operation, and management of the facility.
Under the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) recently approved by the Board of Directors, Paramount Textile will purchase electricity from its subsidiary at a rate of Tk 8.20 per unit (excluding VAT and AIT). This agreement is set to remain effective for a period of 20 years once the project becomes operational.
The management emphasized that this initiative is a core part of their strategy to build an eco-friendly production system and ensure long-term business sustainability.
