The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has decided to reduce its daily trading window by approximately one hour for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. The decision aims to accommodate the religious observances of investors and officials during the fasting period.
New Trading Schedule
According to a notice from the premier bourse, stock market trading will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude at 1:40 PM during Ramadan. This marks a shift from the current regular schedule, where trading typically continues until 2:30 PM.
The trading sessions are structured as follows:
-
Continuous Trading: 10:00 AM to 1:40 PM.
-
Post-Closing Session: 1:40 PM to 1:50 PM.
During the 10-minute post-closing session, investors are permitted to buy or sell shares and units at the day’s final closing price; however, no new price proposals can be placed.
Revised Office Hours
The DSE has also adjusted its official office hours for the month. DSE staff will operate from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, reflecting a reduction from the standard closing time of 4:30 PM.
| Session/Office | Ramadan Schedule | Regular Schedule |
| Trading Start | 10:00 AM | 10:00 AM |
| Trading End | 1:40 PM | 2:30 PM |
| Post-Closing | 1:40 PM – 1:50 PM | 2:30 PM – 2:40 PM |
| Office Hours | 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM | 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM |
These changes are temporary. The Dhaka Stock Exchange will revert to its regular trading and office schedule immediately following the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
