The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has once again decided to hike the price of gold in the domestic market, marking another historic peak. The price of 22-carat gold has been increased by Tk 16,213 per bhori, bringing the new rate to Tk 2,86,001.
In a press release issued today, Thursday (January 29, 2026), BAJUS stated that the new prices came into effect starting at 10:15 AM. The association attributed the hike to the rising price of pure gold (tejabi gold) in the local market.
New Gold Price Structure
Under the revised rates, the prices for different qualities of gold (per bhori/11.664 grams) are as follows:
| Gold Quality | New Price (BDT) |
| 22-carat | Tk 2,86,001 |
| 21-carat | Tk 2,72,996 |
| 18-carat | Tk 2,33,980 |
| Traditional Method | Tk 1,93,039 |
Silver Prices Hit All-Time High
Parallel to the gold hike, the price of silver has also seen a significant jump. The price of 22-carat silver has been increased by Tk 816 per bhori, reaching a record high of Tk 8,573.
The updated silver prices are:
-
21-carat: Tk 8,165 per bhori
-
18-carat: Tk 6,998 per bhori
-
Traditional Method: Tk 5,249 per bhori
Additional Charges
BAJUS reminded consumers and traders that the final selling price must include a mandatory 5% government-regulated VAT and a minimum 6% making charge (wages) as determined by the association.
This latest adjustment follows a series of rapid price increases in January 2026, driven by global economic volatility and local market demand.
