DHAKA – Bangladesh has seen a robust inflow of remittances, with expatriates sending home $2.095 billion in the first 22 days of September. On Tuesday, September 22, alone, a significant amount of BDT 780.8 million was remitted, according to Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan.
This marks a substantial increase compared to the same period last year. In the first 22 days of September of the previous year, remittances totaled $1.769 billion. This year’s inflow represents a growth of $326 million, or 18.40%, over the same period.
The upward trend is also evident in the overall remittance figures for the current fiscal year. From July 1 to September 22, 2025, the country received $6.995 billion in remittances, up from $5.906 billion during the corresponding period last year, marking an increase of $1.089 billion.
In the initial months of the current 2025-26 fiscal year, remittances have remained strong. In July, the country received $2.4779 billion, equivalent to approximately BDT 30,239 crore. In August, the total inflow was $2.422 billion, or BDT 29,548.4 crore.
Looking back at the previous fiscal year (2024-25), Bangladesh’s remittance inflow reached a record high of $3.29 billion in March, which was the highest for that year. The total remittance for the entire 2024-25 fiscal year amounted to $30.33 billion, a 26.8% increase from the previous fiscal year’s $23.91 billion.
