DHAKA – The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has once again increased the price of gold in the local market, effective Wednesday, September 24. This marks a new record high for gold prices in the country’s history.
According to the new rates, a ভরি (approximately 11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold will be sold at ৳194,859, a jump of ৳3,663. This decision was made during a meeting of the Bajus Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Tuesday, September 23, and was announced in a press release signed by the committee’s chairman, Masudur Rahman.
The new prices are as follows:
- 21-carat gold: ৳186,006 per Vori
- 18-carat gold: ৳159,424 per Vori
- Traditional method gold: ৳132,351 per Vori
Prior to this increase, the prices were:
- 22-carat gold: ৳191,196 per Vori
- 21-carat gold: ৳182,495 per Vori
- 18-carat gold: ৳156,426 per Vori
- Traditional method gold: ৳129,797 per Vori
Bajus stated that these new prices will be effective at all jewelry stores across the country until further notice. The final selling price will also include a 5% Value Added Tax (VAT) as per government regulations and a minimum 6% labor charge set by Bajus. The labor charge may vary based on the design and quality of the jewelry.
