BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman has said that one of the party’s foremost responsibilities ahead of the upcoming national election in February is to ensure the confidence of every voter in Bangladesh.
In a post on his verified Facebook page on Thursday (September 18), he emphasized that BNP, as a democratic political party, is working across all segments of society—from grassroots to the national level—to strengthen its organizational structure and reflect the hopes and aspirations of the younger generation.
Tarique noted that over 7,000 party members have faced organizational action in recent months on allegations of corruption, extortion, and misconduct. Some were removed from their posts, while others were expelled. He described these steps as “difficult but necessary,” adding:
“Discipline is not a weakness; it is our strength. By holding our own members accountable, we prove that BNP is sincere about integrity, applying to ourselves the same standards we demand from those in power.”
He stressed that the BNP aims to rebuild public trust, especially among youth who want politics to be inclusive and service-oriented rather than merely a struggle for power.
Highlighting BNP’s modernization efforts, Tarique said the party is strengthening direct connections with the people and shaping its policies around a 31-point program, focusing on education, healthcare, youth employment, climate change, and digital innovation. He added that BNP seeks greater inclusion of women, young leaders, and professionals in politics to advance the nation.
Recalling the legacy of late President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, Tarique said the BNP is committed to upholding democracy, integrity, and accountable governance while moving towards a future-oriented Bangladesh.
Concluding his message, he urged party leaders and activists to remain united, disciplined, and dedicated to public service:
“Just as I trust each of you, I ask you to trust me. Together, we will prove that a democratic, accountable, and stable Bangladesh is possible.”
